  • They grow so fast..literally

Sit down kids, it's story time. And no this isn't the story I was gonna tell before. This is a different story that created itself no more than an hour ago. Everyone listening? Good. Let's get started, shall we?

I got Jacey up from her nap. Actually, she got herself up and I just went in there and rescued her from her crib.

Anyway. She walked out into the hallway and then into the kitchen. She saw a banana on the counter and said "MMM". (She calls all food Mmm.) So, I say "Mommy is gonna make you some eggs. You can have some mmm in a minute, ok?"

I make her some scrabbled eggs then put them in the freezer for a few seconds so they can cool down. Jacey sees me do this, walks over and points at the freezer saying "Mmm!" I tell her something along the lines of how she can have it in a second.

I take the eggs out of the freezer and put Jacey in her highchair. I make sure the eggs are chopped up nice and small so she can feed herself. Then I give her the eggs, a piece of bread and some milk. She gets full, or so I think, so I let her out of her high chair.

I see her eyeing that banana, but I don't think anything of it. Then I see her walk over to the counter where the banana sits out of the corner of my eye, but pay no mind. I figured she wasn't tall enough to reach the top of the counter. And even if she miraculously made her finger tips touch the top of it, the banana wasn't close enough to the edge to reach.

Then she walks past me with the banana in her hand. I see her eating the peeling. I say "How in the world did you reach that, you little ninja baby?" She starts running off then I say "No, it's ok you can have it. Just let Mommy get the peeling off."

When I grab it from her to take the peeling off, I realize that she was in fact, not eating the peeling. She had actually peeled a strip off in the back and was eating the actual banana.

Not only did she grow enough inches to be able to reach the the banana in the first place, she grew herself enough intelligence to know to take the peeling off. After only seeing me do it maybe 3 times.

When did she get so tall?! And smart?

The end. You are dismissed after you leave your comments (or not).

Don't worry. I'll tell the other story I've been promising tomorrow. If the internet doesn't mess up. Like it did last time.

You never tell the stories you promise! lol
Gosh! I know what you mean. Izzy can climb out of her crib even though the mattress is in the lowest possible position! So, she sleeps in the play pen now. It has taller sides, but it's shorter so that if she DOES manage to get out, then she won't fall like she did when she escaped from the crib!
Izzy also climbs into the baby swing (which she is too big for, anyway) as well as her high chair.
It's so cute that Jacey calls food "Mmmm" because Izzy calls it "Mine!" lol And all drinks are "Milkkkkk!" even though she knows what "juicccce" is. Kids are silly!

@yourkbear - I thought it was hilarious when Jace first started calling food "mmm". She knows sign language for more, so sometimes she'll sign more when she really just wants food. We figured that out when we were like "Uh. I don't know what she wants more of.." then I realized that when we're feeding her we say "do you want more?" and wait for her to sign it So she thinks that means food too. lol

@Fairywife - That's so cute. Did I tell you about Izzy asking for shoes? She had hidden on shoe from each of her pairs (she has 4 pairs plus her boots from winter). Jason said, "We can just grab a new pair at Wal-Mart." I said, "She doesn't need more shoes, they won't fit her very long. She has enough pairs." Then, looked right at me and said, "I need shoes. I do!" THEN her grandma took her to Wal-Mart, and they looked at the baby shoes. She asked, "Izzy, do you want some shoes." She replied, "I need shoes!"
